Can I request a USB Sample before ordering ?

Sample Policy

Because imprinted USB keys can be complicated and because they are customized, USB Canada highly recommends that you request samples prior to purchasing a bulk quantity. This will allow you to better grasp the style and feel of the design to ensure they are getting exactly what is expected.

There are 2 types of samples available :

1) Product sample :
product with/without an example logo

2) Pre-production sample :
A printed sample of your custom USB order with your artwork on it. This is normally provided to the client prior to mass production of your order so that you are 100% certain that the end result is what you want.

PRODUCT SAMPLES

Product samples are used to show customers the exact product they intend to later imprint with their logo ; they do not include the customers’ logo/message. They are blank products or, sometimes, products that may be imprinted with another company’s logo/message. They are required as part of our guarantee policy.

Sample Cost

USB Canada will provide up to 3 product samples, free of charge (limited to non-working USB samples), to legitimate business customers. Samples valued at more than $5 (such as working USBs) or samples above the 3 free allowed will be charged at the market price listed for the minimum quantity.

Shipping

Shipping for samples is Free and complimentary service at USB Canada. If you prefer, we can use your shipping account as well (such as UPS, FedEx, or Purolator).

How to Order

To obtain a product sample, please discuss your request with your Account Manager. Note that adequate time is necessary (1-3 days) to receive and review the product sample as it can add up to a week or more to the overall ordering process.

The following information is required for a sample order :

1. Product name(s) or number
2. Company name, shipping address, telephone number ;
3. Shipping account number (if necessary).

Samples Returns

Some sample items may be returned within 15 days of receipt. To do so, please contact our Customer Service prior to shipping back to ensure that items can be returned. To prevent sample policy abuse, USB Canada reserves the right to decline any sample request.

PRE-PRODUCTION SAMPLES

Pre-production samples are an exact copy of the final product in producing your order, only rather than shipping the entire order to you, you are receiving 1 unit only. Pre-production samples are highly recommended as they ultimately ensure you are 100% satisfied with the end result : changes can still be made before the entire production process is started. Pre-production samples are recommended however not required.

Pre-Production Sample Cost

The cost of a pre-production sample can vary depending on the product ordered. A pre-production sample may seem costly, but this is mainly due to the setup and preparation involved in producing a single customized item. Think of it as an investment : when ordering $5,000 worth of customized products, is it not worth it to spend $75-200 to ensure that the final product fully meets your expectations ?

Shipping

Shipping charges for pre-production samples are the responsibility of the client. We can use our shipping account and then bill the charges to you in the case that you do not have a shipping account (i.e. UPS, FedEx, DHL or Purolator).

How to Order

To obtain a pre-production sample, please contact your request with our Sales Department.

Payment

All pre-production samples must be paid for at the time of request. Pre-production sample orders will not be processed until written authorization with payment is received.

How do I send my artwork/files to you ?

The easiest way to submit your artwork is with our File Upload to our FTP site, but we can also accept artwork sent in on CD or via email if under 2MB.

*Be sure to advise your account manager once you have loaded your files so we can confirm with you that we received them.

How long is your production time ?

Production times may vary depending on the details of your order (i.e. quantity, model number and complexity of your order). Generally speaking, production time for the majority of our products is 10-14 business days.

Rush service is available for certain products for an additional charge. Please contact an Account Manager to see if your deadline is achievable.

Is it possible to send me a physical proof ?

Prior to each order being queued into production, USB Canada provides an electronic virtual proof that is sent via email for logo layout confirmation. Physical proofs may be shipped to you upon request, however additional charges apply.

What are your logo requirements ?

For the best print quality please send us your logo artwork in vector (.eps file format) outline format. For simple text placement just email your account representative the text you would like with your preferred font type and we can setup your artwork proof from that. See our artwork requirements for more information.

What is a Electronic/Virtual proof ?

A virtual or electronic proof is a computer-generated image of what your customized USB will look like when completed. By approving a proof through email, we can get your order started much faster than waiting for a proof to go through the mail.

We offer virtual proofs as a free service. There is no obligation to order, however if you wish to proceed with an order, your virtual proof represents the basis of our order fulfillment. When placing an order with us, it is important to check that you are satisfied with the proof and request modifications if required :

Virtual Proof Shortlist :

* Spelling of any text, website address, etc
* Alignment of logo/text
* Size and positioning of logo/text
* Pantone® color references (if applicable)
* Abnormalities in the logo appearance
* Check your company brand guidelines

Please note this list is just a suggested checklist. Once a virtual proof is confirmed with an order, processing begins and we are not responsible for errors in fulfillment if they are evident on the virtual proof.

What is an imprint area and how is it determined ?

The space where text or logos are printed on promotional products is known as the imprint area. The size of an imprint area is primarily determined by the size and shape of the item that is being used, and the area includes the space that is best seen.

The imprint area is usually limited due to design purposes. For example, if an item had every square centimeter taken up by text or logos, then it would be unattractive and difficult to read ! Imprint areas may also be determined by the logistics involved in the printing process of certain items.
